Buy Local on Ibiza

We believe that buying and eating local produce is not just more sustainable but is also a more fulfilling experience, so we work with local growers, producers and co-operatives across the island to be able to offer you the chance to buy both locally farmed produce and locally created products.

On our website simply order items with either a ‘Locally Grown’ or ‘Locally Made’ badge on the image to help us support local businesses, as well as the network of people who keep Ibiza’s heritage alive.

From farmers to fishermen, from those making the traditional sobrasada sausage to innovative chefs using Ibiza’s produce to create exciting new products, from the alchemists who make Ibiza’s famous herb liqueur to dynamic creatives who are producing fabulous fermented drinks – we can deliver Ibiza’s eclectic produce from all over the island to your door.

Importantly, when we buy locally grown produce, we support local farmers and in turn help preserve green space. When local farmers are well compensated for their products, they are less likely to sell their land to developers. Likewise, with growing consumer demand, young farmers are inspired to continue this tradition and help the land of Ibiza flourish.

Eating more local food also reduces your carbon footprint. When your food doesn’t travel long distances, you’re promoting better air quality and reducing pollution. Aside from this, local fruit and vegetables are delivered fresher as they have less distance to travel before reaching you. Food that travels long distances is often picked before it is ripe and then artificially ripened with ethylene gas, but when food is picked and eaten at the peak of freshness, it retains more nutrients and tastes better.

Another fact to mention is that even if the products aren’t labelled as organic, Ibicencan farmers tend to use fewer chemicals than large, industrialized farms found on the mainland and further afield. Farmers have to pay an extra fee to become certified organic so many small-scale farmers use organic methods but aren’t certified because they simply aren’t big enough to be able to afford the certification fees.

Support Ibiza: buy locally grown and made produce.
